IPIA members out in force at Sign and Digital UK as organisers build new show

Sign and Digital UK 2019 was a celebration of the graphic arts industry with a cornucopia of new wide-format inkjet print technology, media, and services on show

IPIA members were out in force and showcased an impressive range of print technology, graphic display systems, media, and software services that saw their stands buzzing with visitors across the three days.

Antalis used its highly impressive ski-lodge themed stand this year to feature its new product Xanita Board as well as its entire graphic arts media range in application to create every part of the stand. Xanita is an innovative and sustainable fibreboard is manufactured using fibres recovered from recycled cardboard boxes. Complete with a bar, it kept visitors very warm and entertained.

Having its first public UK showing was the new Canon Océ Arizona 1300 flatbed printer series for mid-volume sign and display graphics producers, which aims to help customers increase production efficiencies and address market demand for more varied applications.

Ricoh were exhibiting their latest wide-format inkjet solutions including a new latex printer, a new smaller UV flatbed and a new mid-range direct to garment printer.

printMAX were showcasing technology from Roland DG, Mimaki, HP and Summa, and led on its committed to delivering printers, cutters, laminators and consumables with high quality support and service to ensure you can get the best return on investment.

GMG Color were demonstrating the new features of ColorServer. The colour management software provides consistent results across printing processes, devices and substrates, using GMG’s MX technology for a superior and more repeatable conversion than ICC-based software.

Vivid were drawing in the crowds with its new Matrix Metallic system, which has been designed specifically for applying digital foiling and spot UV type effects easily and cost-effectively. The new Vivid Easycut CNC flatbed cutter is designed for cutting intricate shapes and designs.

Those seeking cost-, time- and quality- efficient print solutions were not disappointed by Epson’s presence at Sign and Digital UK this year. Standout skintones, vibrant natural (and unnatural!) images and the practical (wallpapers and stickers) were on display, showing some of the specialist features of Epson’s SureColor production, such as the use of white ink and red ink.

Premier Paper meanwhile boasted a ‘Movie Premier’ themed stand to demonstrate its portfolio of sign and display products in action and showcase how they can produce some of the most eye catching, memorable and innovative retail displays. With cameo appearances from Marilyn Monroe, Darth Vader, and Storm Trooper impersonators, not to mention a 4m high jaws display selfie-station, it certainly entertained the crowds.

EFI were also in attendance showcasing its Digital StoreFront eCommerce solution, which offers the industry-leading print buyer experience designed to win new business, acquire new customers and grow your existing business. Its Print MIS/ERP solutions were also being demonstrated to showcase how they form a solid foundation for a print business when it comes to collecting, organizing and presenting information in a format that improves communication, speeds production, reduces errors, and boosts throughput.

RA Smart meanwhile led with its new REXframe graphic display system, with extrusions are available as single sided, double sided, cubes, suspended, curved and lightboxes. Plus, these different extrusions can be combined to build truly unique 3D structures such as cash wraps, entry arches and trade show displays.
Last but not least, and with 40 years of experience, Your Print Specialists hosted celebrated textile specialist Anthony Devine to showcase the opportunities in interior branding, while showcasing technology from Mimaki, HP Latex, Roland, Flexa and Bubblefree.
