New equipment spend continues as bakergoodchild adds to its production capabilities.

Posted on June 08, 2017

Birmingham-based direct mail fulfilment and print management services provider, bakergoodchild, has announced that it has once again added to its significant plant list, with the purchase of two Xerox Nuvera 314 EA’s (Perfecting Production System) which has a double engine, along with a Renz AP360 auto-punch machine.

In addition, the company has also made a purchase of GMC Inspire Designer, the market leading solution document management output software for managing and delivering quality customer communications across multiple channels. GMC Inspire Designer provides one single editor for responsive design across all channels, giving instant previews of work for print, web, email, mobile, tablet and social media on one screen, including real-time navigation.

This recent investment follows the company’s earlier new equipment spend in March this year, soon after its move to a new, purpose built premises in Birmingham at the end of last year.

The two Xerox Nuvera 314 EA’s are ideal for transactional, promotional, and books & manuals applications and can handle a wide and varied array of substrates, from coated, gloss, silk, and matt, through to uncoated book, text, bond, cover, index and offset. They can also handle speciality materials, such as carbonless, tabs, envelopes, never tear and pre-printed offset forms.

With an average monthly volume capability of some 4million images per month, the Xerox Nuvera’s can operate at speeds of 314 duplexed images per minute on A4, and 157 duplexed images per minute on A3.

The Renz AP360 is a heavy duty, high-speed, automatic, floor-standing auto-punch machine, suitable for a range of book and calendar punching production applications. It has a two-finger paper pick up system which can handle a range of mixed stock, with fast die changes, and optional two-part split dies for both book and calendar work. As a result of acquiring the new Renz AP360, the company has added further efficiency to its production workflows, and benefitted from cost-savings as a result.

Its Quick Size Adjustment (QSA), also allows for a high flexibility of different paper formats to be handled, together with an output speed of 6,000-7,000 mechanical cycles per hour, handling some 100,000 max. punched sheets per hour (based on 80gsm substrate weights).

The company has also launched an image gallery, as part of its new website development. The image gallery features staff pictures and profiles, equipment imagery and exterior and interior depictions of its new base. The new website and image gallery can be viewed at

Located on a secure industrial estate in Aston, Birmingham, the new premises are equipped with dedicated loading and delivery areas, staff, and customer parking, as well as providing easy access to the major motorway networks.

Commenting on the increasing demand for its transactional mail services, bakergoodchild Managing Director, Lorraine Burnell, stated, “Following our move at the end of last year, we have continued to expand and as a result we have found the need to add further to our production capabilities with new equipment. Our expansion and growth continues, alongside our continued investment as our business goes from strength to strength.”

In November last year the company unveiled its new corporate identity, together with a new website. The website can be viewed at
